Last weekend, while standing near a local lake, I saw this Egret diving in and picking up its breakfast.

This grey Horn bill found a new hangout, very next to my window.
It does keep an eye on me though :)

But he did avoid looking at me :)

Knocking for food
Via Flickr:
Is that a Coppersmith Barbet?
It allowed me to come close. It was searching for some worms in the tree bark.
As soon as it got a few, it flew away with its lunch :)

This pic is a good crop from original.
Once you get a good focus with the Nikkor 70-300 VR on a Nikon D7000 you can leverage the megapixel advantage.
This may not be as sharp as pro grade lenses, but I am assuming the pros lenses will give more than this

Hopefully it will stop raining over weekend and I can head out to take some pictures..
Hide and Seek

All Saturday I could not stop noticing the great cloud formation throught out the day.
It was all set for a nice sunset.
Going home 2
Via Flickr:
This is definately a bee. I guess I was wrong with the previous one.
I had fun that day. Sometimes its as easy as sitting and waiting for something to happen..
Been hungry
This juvenile Shikra seem to be very hungry.
I heard a commotion near a big tree and I went there to check what's going on.
This chap was probably very hungry and was attacking every leaving thing around regardless of size.
It first attacked a squirrel, which was too big. It even chased a butterfly and was pretty desperate.
The hungry bird then flew away. I waited for some time, but it didnt come back.
The Pearl Collector
I am impressed with the strength of the web, it did hold on even in rain!
Chikhaldara
Chikhaldara, a beautiful hill station in central India.
This place is at its best towards the end of monsoon.
This picture is taken a year back. This one is created by stitching 5 images. There is a village on the left, I dont know the name. The river in the right is not permenant. Its a 'monsoon' river.
Love birds?
No..
These guys were involved in territorial fight !!
No clues who won, cause they continued their fight in a shrub. Could not see the result, but I am sure both survived
Collared Scops-Owl -2
Red eye fixed using this method:
1. Add a hue/saturation adjustment layer.
2. Click the menu and choose RED.
3. Zoom into eye and lower saturation to your choice.
(I reduced it to -75)
4. click on the mask of the hue/sat layer and fill with black.
5. With a soft brush and WHITE as the foreground color paint over eyes to bring back the effect.
