The entire series is here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mayurkotlikar/tags/koel/
This picture is from the initial fighting between to male Koel birds.
This picture is one from the series of pictures I was able to take during territorial fight, which I witnessed over Saturday.
All though I am not sure who was the original resident bird, but the left one did surely loose.
When the left male Asian Koel bird was fighting, I could see the other larger male dominating slowly and cornering the relatively smaller one.
In fact the one on the left, collapsed after 20 mins. of fight, barely able to grab the branch on the way down.
It was stressed out and must have gone through lot trauma but I don’t know why exactly its beak had such color (did he made more injuries to other bird).
My knowledge about birds is very limited, so that all I can observe and conclude.
The victorious bird, did gave a few gestures of victory when it was over.

Decorated

During Diwali, when my wife was wearing henna or "temporary" tattoo, we were experimenting with a few close ups.
This is one of them.
Only after reviewing this image after many days, I realized that I missed to include the tip of fingers. And by that time, the henna was all gone.
What we were trying to accomplish is to show two deer’s kissing :)
This hand gesture, when used against a light source projecting shadow would make more send though.
The jewelry might be distracting, but mind you, all that glitters is not gold.
Ready for a quick snack?
Via Flickr:
A very popular street side, tangy Indian snack bar.
The top yellow crispy looking flakes are flattened black gram.
Its mixed up with generous quantities of finely chopped onion, tomatoes & chilly !
It is topped with squeezing lemon over and mixed. The paper seen in the picture is the plate in which its served, talk about recycling eh?
Its named Chana Chor Garam
Smile and ...

... the world smiles with you.
My little boy, no longer curly hair and cute little now prince now. This picture a old picture.
Now he keeps me on my toes but a sweatheart none the less :)
Munch munch
Via Flickr:
The insect gobbling up the leaf.
The depth of field was really narrow. As you can see, most of the body is out of focus.
The Tamron 90mm F 2.8 makes me happy every time I take it out :)
Crawl or Fly
Via Flickr:
Is he going to crawl up or fly away? :D
While walking at morning today, I found this.
For long, I had decided not to change my lenses in open, but I could not resist putting my Tamron 90mm macro lens.
With a very narrow depth of field, the lens just blew away the background and turned it into a nice canvas for me.
But I am going to stick with 1 lens approach next time when I go out.
Monsoon magic
Via Flickr:
Monsoon is magical. Everybody seems to be enjoying it. I love to go and lookout for such freshness in the morning.
And its really pleasing to see such beauties around, standing effortlessly :D
Garden fresh
Via Flickr:
I had this beautiful rose at my home.
This weekend I am hoping to go out and take a few more clicks tomorrow morning.
Hope you folks will be able to make most of your weekend as well.
Share new ideas to explore :)
I am planning to move our early and catch insects while they are still asleep.
I will also see if I can take flower pictures at unusual angles ;-)
Encircled
I could not resist from framing the flower this way :)
The F1.8 made the bokeh a bit unbalanced.
Rain Drops
Via Flickr:
At morning, post rain, the rain drop were quite prominent.
By changes in the wind, looks like we are set for some chill.
Virtual Galaxy
Via Flickr:
The moon is obviously photoshopped.
I used star bokeh filter to picture the lights.
Tracks
Via Flickr:
If you see the tracks on the leaf, there are many ways for this little fellow to take :)
There is something from my side to share. While randomly browsing through Youtube videos, I accidently came across a video by Art Wolfe in Google+ Photographer Channel.
The 45 min video changed my perspective to look at things. Unfortunately, I am not able to post the link here. But its a must watch. I will be using the basic lenses more often than ever :)
You have my attention...
Via Flickr:
The magnificent stag did gave me some attention.
This is an old picture, from Feb.
Hornbill
Via Flickr:
This chap visited me after a long time.
It was raining since early morning & I was getting ready to go off to work.
I saw this horn bill just land next to my window.
It started with quickly mounting the lens. It was raining still and was pretty overcast.
My subject was in green, I dialed -2/3 exposure and went for a few clicks.
Darn all came out blur. I knew I will not get more shot so I had to quickly increase ISO and had a series again.
Total 7 shots and the bird flew back again.
If it was not my Nikon D7000 and Nikon 300 F4 AF-S it would have been tough. Each time I use it, I love it !
Tiny love
Via Flickr:
If I have interpreted the act correctly, this is one of the reasons why we get so many of these tiny insects during Monsoon.
Lizard
Via Flickr:
This chap let me come pretty close. I had Tamron 90mm attached and could get very close.
Green riot
Via Flickr:
Macro'ing after a long time.
The rechargeable batteries didnt last couple of flashes.
And I used SB 400 so that's pretty bad.
Suggest me good batteries. Eneloop?
Hey !!
Via Flickr:
Squirrel giving me the looks. No doubt it was quite curious about what I am doing :)
Shikra
Via Flickr:
While looking out of window of my apartment, I saw this Shikra.
I rushed to fetch my camera and took couple of pictures.
This Shikra was bullied away by group of babblers.
Spider

This one has many eyes on me :D
Picture taken with Nikon D7000, Tamron 90mm F 2.8 & SB 400 Flash
Mixed vegetables
Via Flickr:
Given the price of these veggies, even their taking their pictures might draw some royalties :)
The couple
Via Flickr:
Got a new Nikon 50mm AF-S.
Not the sharpest at F1.8 (good at F4 according to me).
But the bokeh is very pleasing. This lovely couple stand's out against background. I put some colorful cloth in the background.
Honeybee
Via Flickr:
Put the macro lens to use after a long time.
Its been busy with portraits mostly.
Tigress portrait

The beast showing all bits of aggression.

This picture is taken in wild & natural habitat.
No animal was injured while taking this picture :D & no human as well.
The Cat

Playing around with Topaz Adjust.
Still a long way to go to understand the relation between different sliders :(
Thirst
Via Flickr:
There was a group of babblers and it was interesting to see them drinking in rounds.
Looking at the Sun go down...

...is always beautiful

Freedom
Via Flickr:
A you must have guessed, this picture is heavily photoshopped
The original bird picture ws with very dull picture so I added some background
